Dr. Danielle Kolen

Welcome!

First and foremost, I want YOU to be proud of yourself for taking a chance on YOU. Seeking out help/support can be tough, and in some instances feel taboo depending on one’s upbringing and the unwavering pressures placed on us by society to somehow have everything all “figured out.” Recognizing and acknowledging that you and or a loved one is struggling is not only okay, but it’s also quite admirable and healthy. I’ve always worked from the philosophy that vulnerability is a form strength, not a weakness. The hard thing is admitting that there is pain, not ignoring it.

As a clinician I enjoy working from a client-centered collaborative approach, as I help guide you along your journey towards healing. My style is simple, I see the human in you. Yet my style also encompasses a great form of dept, as I work from an integrated lens which includes the use of psychodynamic/psychoanalytic work, evidence-based practices, and or brief dynamic therapy. Regardless of our chosen treatment framework, it is essential for me to include a deep sense of compassion, empathy, honesty/truth, openness, vulnerability, genuineness, accountability, realness, and humor as we work through the many complexities that come with the human experience.

I truly believe that everyone deserves to operate from the best version of themselves during every stage of life, which includes nurturing the relationship you have with yourself in addition to the relationships you have with others. How we think about ourselves, others, and the world ultimately determines our present and future selves. We cannot change the past, but we can acknowledge it and heal from it. It takes work but it can be done. The moment we decide to take control of the things within our control, is the moment our lives can change forever. I am here to meet you where you are, help guide you to recognize the blind spots, help you work through your pain points, and help assist you on your life’s journey from surviving to thriving.
